Casting News: Suicide Squad adds Jay Hernandez & Jerry Lewis joins The Trust

Come for the SUICIDE SQUAD casting update, stay for the details on an upcoming drama called THE TRUST starring Nicolas Cage, Elijah Wood, and now Jerry Lewis!

Sources have told The Wrap that QUARANTINE and Gang Related star Jay Hernandez is in talks for a mystery role in David Ayer's SUICIDE SQUAD. The site believes Hernandez could be playing an inmate on the same cell block as Jared Leto's The Joker, however they also say there are "several other open roles at this time" as well. With production set to start in a couple of months, the full cast for the comic book movie will likely be officially announced in the next few weeks.

Now on to THE TRUST, which is currently being filmed in Nevada. Ben and Alex Brewer are directing the movie, with Nicolas Cage and Elijah Wood playing a pair of corrupt cops who are stuck working the evidence room of the Las Vegas police department. After one learns about a vault full of cash in the back of a convenience star, both cops team up to try to steal the money. According to Deadline, Jerry Lewis will play the dad of Cage's dirty cop character.

THE TRUST sounds like it could be an entertaining film in a "so bad it's good" sort of way, and Nicolas Cage definitely knows a thing or two about playing a crooked cop, so I am at least a little interested in checking it out .

SUICIDE SQUAD will hit theaters on August 5, 2016 and THE TRUST will probably be released later this year or sometime in 2016.
