Casting offers: Brad Pitt for All You Need Is Kill, Blake Lively for Pride & Zombies

Since neither of these bits of casting have been substantiated, I decided to lump them into a single story. No biggie, right?!?

First up is the leggy Blake Lively, who, according to Twitch, has been offered the lead role in the oft-stalled PRIDE & PREJUDICE & ZOMBIES adaptation. Last we really heard, Craig Gillespie was said to have bowed out of directing (perhaps due to FRIGHT NIGHT bombing), a charge Gillespie has come out and denied. As you know, the project has had many starts and stops, with David O’ Russell, Mike White, Natalie Portman, Emma Stone, Mia Wasikowska and others at one time involved. Word is Lively has met with Gillespie to discuss the part.

Okay, now that PPZ is squared away for now, let’s move on to Mr. Brad Pitt. According to Vulture, Pitt has been offered the lead gig in Doug Liman’s ALL YOU NEED IS A KILL, an adaptation of Hiroshi Sakurazaka’s popular manga. The film was set to be on hold as Liman made his moon thriller LUNA, but since Paramount ditched that project, Liman may refocus his efforts toward ALL YOU NEED IS KILL. Of course, he and Pitt worked together on MR. AND MRS. SMITH…an experience I’m going to venture to guess was pretty damn life changing (Angie, anyone).

No idea if either Pitt or Lively will accept their respective offers, but as soon as we hear, you’ll know about it.

In the meantime, should they take these gigs? if not, why not?

Lively indeed!
