Casting Round-Up with Woody Harrelson, Liam Hemsworth & David Dastmalchian

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

I have some interesting casting news for you this morning involving a new film from WISH YOU WERE HERE director Kieran Darcy-Smith and Peyton Reed's ANT-MAN.

Deadline is reporting THE HUNGER GAMES co-stars Woody Harrelson and Liam Hemsworth have joined BY WAY OF HELENA, a revenge western based on a script by Matt Cook. The film will follow Hemsworth's David, "an 1880s Texas Ranger sent to an isolated frontier town to investigate a series of mysterious murders. There he squares off against Harrelson as a local preacher named Abraham who holds the townsfolk in a fearful grip."

This is the second revenge western we've heard about recently. Leonardo DiCaprio will be starring in THE REVENANT for Alejandro Iñárritu, and yesterday we learned Tom Hardy has officially joined the project. Filming for BY WAY OF HELENA is set to begin in September, before Woody Harrelson and Liam Hemsworth have to start promoting THE HUNGER GAMES: MOCKINGJAY – PART 1 for its November release.

Deadline is also reporting THE DARK KNIGHT's David Dastmalchian (he played the Joker thug who was briefly kidnapped by Harvey Dent) will play an unspecified role in Marvel's ANT-MAN. The studio is apparently keeping Dastmalchian's role under wraps, and I'm curious to know how large his part will be in the upcoming movie. The actor also starred in last year's PRISONERS, and has appeared on television series like Ray Donovan, Almost Human, and The League.

Woody Harrelson and Liam Hemsworth THE HUNGER GAMES: MOCKINGJAY – PART 1 will be in theaters on November 21, 2014, and ANT-MAN will open on July 17, 2015.
