Cate Blanchett circling role in Sandra Bullock’s Ocean’s Eleven spin-off

Last year it was revealed that Gary Ross (THE HUNGER GAMES) would be directing an OCEAN'S ELEVEN remake/reboot/spin-off starring Sandra Bullock, and much like Steven Soderbergh's film, it seems like they've looking to assemble a star-studded cast. With Bullock filling a similar role to George Clooney's, she obviously needs a wise-cracking Brad Pitt type in order to help pull off whatever convoluted heist this new team has in mind.

The Playlist reports that Cate Blanchett (CAROL) is currently in talks to join the project, which is unofficially being called OCEAN'S OCHO by the folks behind-the-scenes. The outlet also claims that production on the film is looking to get underway by late fall/early winter. Unfortunately that start date could keep the previously rumoured Jennifer Lawrence from participating as The Playlist says that she may have a scheduling conflict. There was also a possibility that George Clooney would make a cameo in the film as Danny Ocean himself, but apparently that idea has been put on the shelf for now. However, should the film prove to be a success and spawn sequels, there's always the chance that they'll be able to bring the two teams together at a latter date.

Cate Blanchett has several projects on the horizon, including Terrence Malick's WEIGHTLESS, Andy Serkis' JUNGLE BOOK, and THOR: RAGNAROK, in which she'll be butting heads with Chris Hemsworth as the villainous Hela.
