Celebrate Laika studios’ 10th Anniversary with new footage from Kubo & more

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

You may not be fluent with the name, but odds are you've seen one or several of LAIKA Animation's movies. We're talking CORALINE, PARANORMAN, THE BOXTROLLS, and coming next year, KUBO AND THE TWO STRINGS. If you've had a chance to check out any of these films, you'd know that their blend of stop-motion and CG animation is second to none. To celebrate this, Nicholas Davis has edited together a really great video that gives us not only a glimpse at some of LAIKA's previous flicks, but also some behind-the-scenes work and clips from the upcoming KUBO AND THE TWO STRINGS. Check it out!

If you haven't checked out the full trailer for KUBO, you can feast your eyes on that beauty here. Suffice it to say that with each new film, LAIKA is pushing the boundaries of their visual aesthetics and storytelling prowess. When it comes to animation, CG seems to be running the bulk of things nowadays, but it's great to see such commitment to to blending computer and practical effects. Here's hoping that KUBO sweeps critics and audiences off their feet come next August!

LAIKA's next production, KUBO AND THE TWO STRINGS, will open in theaters on August 19, 2016.
