Chappie scores an R rating and plenty of new stills

Neill Blomkamp's latest takes place in the near future (surprise, surprise), when crime is patrolled by an oppressive mechanized police force. One police droid, Chappie, is stolen and given new programming, becoming the first robot with the ability to think and feel for himself. If you were worried that CHAPPIE might represent a lighter side of Blomkamp, have no fear, as the MPAA has given the film a nice, hard R for violence, language and brief nudity. Will Hugh Jackman be caught sporting a mullet and only a mullet? Time will tell, but we have a plethora of new pictures to whet your appetite. The full gallery can be spotted here, but I've pulled the cooler shots for you below.

I may be in the minority, but I'm not completely sold on CHAPPIE. I'm sure the film will have its fair share of action, but the emotion seems a little forced regarding the titular character. Still, when Blomkamp's directing is on, it's really on and definitely worth seeing in a theater. Sharlto Copley has always delivered with his acting, so I'm hoping his take on Chappie will suck me into the story and actually bring me to care.

CHAPPIE hits theaters on March 6, 2015.
