Don Cheadle, fatigued from exaggerated Cockney accents in OCEAN movies and all around dramatic fare, has decided, for the first time, to tackle the ever so slippery slope of a children’s film. He’s signed on to star alongside tween star Emma “don’t you dare mention my aunt Julia…more than once” Roberts in HOTEL FOR DOGS, a feature adaptation of Lois Duncan’s 1971 children’s book of the same name. The film centers on two orphaned children (one of whom presumably is Emma) who shelter stray dogs in an abandoned hotel; much to the chagrin of a social worker (Cheadle) who tries to keep them out of trouble. Thor Freudenthal makes his feature directorial debut from a script by Jeff Lowell. Production is scheduled to start in November. Cheadle can next be seen in the historical epic TOUSSAINT and the drama/thriller TRAITOR.
