Fox Searchlight has just released a healthy batch of new stills from the eco-terrorist thriller THE EAST. SOUND OF MY VOICE director Zal Batmanglij is at the helm with Alexander Skarsgard, Ellen Page, Patricia Clarkson, Julia Ormond, Shiloh Fernandez, and Jason Ritter all starring. SOUND OF MY VOICE was a fantastic little indie flick that really gets under your skin so I'm pretty damn excited to see what Batmanglij does with a bigger budget and such a talented cast.

Sarah Moss (Marling) is a brilliant operative for an elite private intelligence firm whose top objective is to ruthlessly protect the interests of their A-list corporate clientele. She is assigned to go undercover to infiltrate an anarchist collective known for executing covert attacks upon major corporations. Living amongst them in an effort to get closer to their members, Sarah finds herself unexpectedly torn between two worlds as she starts to fall in love with the group's charismatic leader, finding her life and her priorities irrevocably changed.

THE EAST may not be what you would call a "horror" film per se, but the trailer is absolutely gripping (see it HERE) and it looks like one hell of a thriller — making Batmanglij's latest flick one that we are definitely looking forward to.
