Full trailer and new poster for anarchy thriller The East

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

We’ve been covering Zal Batmanglij’s THE EAST since the first freaky teaser hit a few months ago (right after its Sundance debut, incidentally). The film is only a few weeks away from opening in North America, so the final trailer and poster have become available; both can be seen below. I’m not liking the new poster as much as the last one we glimpsed, unfortunately, but I guess I’ll deal.

The synopsis:

Sarah Moss (Marling) is a brilliant operative for an elite private intelligence firm whose top objective is to ruthlessly protect the interests of their A-list corporate clientele. She is assigned to go undercover to infiltrate an anarchist collective known for executing covert attacks upon major corporations. Living amongst them in an effort to get closer to their members, Sarah finds herself unexpectedly torn between two worlds as she starts to fall in love with the group’s charismatic leader, finding her life and her priorities irrevocably changed.

Brit Marling and Zal Batmanglij wrote the film, while the latter directed. In addition to Marling, it stars “True Blood” vamp Alexander Skarsgård, Ellen Page, Julia Ormond, Shiloh Fernandez and Patricia Clarkson.

THE EAST opens on May 31st; check out the official site right HERE.
