The fifth season of STAR WARS: THE CLONE WARS is set to kick off next month on Cartoon Network and judging by this new, extended trailer, the series is pushing to be epic in scope with a lot of story threads tying together from previous seasons. You don’t have to see all the previous seasons to enjoy this one, but it may help. However, there are plenty of familiar faces that may well revive you from a possible hate coma for all things “prequel” in the Star Wars universe.
The ending of season 4 saw the return of Darth Maul, which was handled exceptionally well, giving the tattooed Sith a post PHANTOM MENACE origin that was fitting to his fate from that film. Some would rather forget the prequels and their offspring even exist, but this show has won me over. The animation is solid, the voice talents strong, and the storylines much more in-depth, creative, and cool than most of what Lucas put on screen.
Grab your lightsaber:
If you’ve never seen the show, I recommend giving it a go. If it’s not for you, then no loss, but it very well may win you over, as it did me. I would certainly watch this over the newly previewed DETOURS show, which looks like Family Guy-lite mixed with Star Wars.
