Check out the sets being constructed for Ridley Scott’s Exodus and first shots of Christian Bale as Moses

Even before Ridley Scott‘s THE COUNSELOR hits theaters, the director is already hard at work on his next project, the epic Moses movie EXODUS. With a huge cast featuring Christian Bale, Aaron Paul, Joel Edgerton, Sigourney Weaver, and John Turturro, it seems like it will harken back to the glorious scale of his GLADIATOR. These new set photos are a nice hint at the practical sets being built for the production.

Sure, there is some green screen in there, but the fact this isn’t going to be an all CGI project means it is going to look good. Plus, we have a look at Joel Edgerton in his Egyptian garb and Christian Bale looking more like Robin Hood than Moses. I am psyched to see this story told with an action bend, much like Darren Aronofsky‘s NOAH.

The one thing this movie needs now is some massive battle scenes. I want this movie to be rooted in a realistic historical context, but you cannot ignore the plagues or the parting of the Red Sea. This needs to be epic movie-making at it’s finest and Ridley Scott is the type of director who can deliver the goods.

EXODUS is set to hit theaters on December 12, 2014.
