The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles always bring back great childhood memories for me. I remember seeing all three of the live action films in the theater and playing with the toys based on the cartoons. Even the recent TMNT computer generated movie was pretty good. So, like many of you, I was quite disturbed by Michael Bay’s proposed re-imagining of the turtles as aliens.
As far as TMNT purists go, the team behind the documentary TURTLE POWER have more of it than anyone I have ever seen. These three guys are cutting together a very professional film about the creation of the comic book all the way through to today. They have complied hundreds of hours of interviews and footage including direct involvement from creators Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird, director Steve Barron, folks from Jim Henson Studios, and the voice cast from both the cartoons and films.
This film is a labor of love for these guys and they are completely financing it on their own. That being said, their site does ask for donations from fans to help get the film made, so you are welcome to show a little support if you like. I truly hope these guys get their movie finished as I would love to see it.
