The cats over at Dread Central have got your first real look at NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD: ORIGINS. If you click on the image above, you’ll get an eyeful of Tony Todd, in animated form, reclaiming his role as “Ben”, the original zombie-bashing badass.
That’s right kids, Mos Def no longer owns the role, as he apparently dropped out a while back. This is news to me, to be honest, but I suppose who better to nab the part than Todd, who did such a memorable job in Tom Savini’s 1990 remake. Todd is not the only one reprising his ’90 role; Bill Moseley once again plays doomed brother “Johnny” – although of course this isn’t a straight-forward remake, but a prequel set in New York. The film will be, as director Zebediah de Soto calls is, an “American anime” in 3D. Simon West is producing.
The cast also includes Danielle Harris, Joe Pilato, Erin Braswell, Mike Diskint, Jesse Corti, Cornell Womac and Alona Tal (pictured below). No word on when the unique film will be released.
