Yahoo! Singapore is reporting that Jiang Wen has been cast in an unspecified role in Gareth Edwards' STAR WARS: ROGUE ONE.

The 52-year-old Chinese actor, screenwriter and filmmaker isn't a huge name here in the states, but you might remember him from such movies as GONE WITH THE BULLETS, LET THE BULLETS FLY, THE SUN ALSO RISES and DEVILS ON THE DOORSTEP, all of which he also directed. His other acting credits include THE LOST BLADESMAN, WARRIORS OF HEAVEN AND EARTH, THE SOONG SISTERS and RED SORGHUM.

Jian Wen's involvement hasn't been confirmed yet though, but if true, the actor will appear alongside Felicity Jones, Forest Whitaker, Riz Ahmed, Diego Luna, Ben Mendelsohn and Jonathan Aris in the first of three planned Star Wars spinoff movies.

STAR WARS: ROGUE ONE is scheduled to open on December 16, 2016.
