From Britney to Bolitar: Chloe Fineman exits Saturday Night Live for Netflix drama Myron Bolitar

Like any other Saturday Night Live cast member who’s got a bright future ahead of them, beloved funny girl Chloe Fineman is exiting the sketch comedy variety show after its 51st season. Fineman’s been at the New York-based program for seven years, creating many standout characters and splitting the sides of audience members with her sharp wit, comedic timing, and clever approach to live comedy. While Fineman‘s time at SNL is drawing to a close, new opportunities are opening up, as sources say she’s in talks to join Colin Woodell, KJ Apa, and Diane Guerrero in Myron Bolitar, Netflix’s drama series inspired by Harlan Coben‘s book series.

Lookin’ mighty Fineman

Fineman joined SNL as a featured player at the start of the 2019-20 season, which was disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic. She made the most of a terrible situation by establishing herself as a standout cast member during the show’s remote spring 2020 episodes. Audiences adored Fineman’s impersonation skills, which led to her taking up a good portion of the spotlight when the series resumed standard in-studio filming sessions. Among Fineman’s roster of spot-on impressions are Drew Barrymore, Britney Spears, Nicole Kidman, Timothée Chalamet, JoJo Siwa, Sydney Sweeney, Meryl Streep, Jennifer Coolidge, Phoebe Dynevor, convicted felon Anna Delvey, and more.

FIneman’s next steps

It’s not uncommon for SNL cast members to exit the late-night program after fulfilling their standard seven-year contract. Other celebrities like Will Ferrell, Kristen Wiig, Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, Mike Myers, Adam Sandler, and more have seen their stars shine brighter than ever after leaving Saturday Night Live, using the program as a stepping stone to launch their Hollywood careers. With Fineman being such a powerful figure in comedy, I would not be surprised if we see her starring in and producing her own projects in the years to come.

Fineman’s ready to mix it up with Netflix

Fineman’s first big-ticket project outside of her SNL exit is Netflix’s Myron Bolitar series. The plot “follows a former basketball player whose NBA career ended by injury, who reinvents himself as a sports agent and navigates the high-stakes world of sports while risking himself to save his clients.” Harlan Coben’s Myron Bolitar book series spans 12 novels (stretching from Deal Breaker in 1995 to Think Twice in 2024). With so much source material to draw from, Fineman could be joining a series that would help skyrocket her career outside of Saturday Night Live.
