There have been multiple big and small screen takes on the story about the infamous axe murders of the Borden family, with the most recent ones being the 2014 Lifetime TV movie starring Christina Ricci as Lizzie Borden and its 2015 limited series sequel, and now you can add another to the list.

Belgian filmmaker Pieter Van Hees (WASTE LAND, LEFT BANK) has been set to direct a currently untitled psychological thriller about the Borden family murders, and THR is reporting that Chloe Sevigny will play Lizzie Borden, the woman who was tried and acquitted of killing her father Andrew and stepmother Abby with an axe in 1892. The site has also learned that Kristen Stewart is in early talks to play Bridget Sullivan, the Borden family's live-in maid who also may have been Lizzie's lesbian lover.

No one else was charged in the murders of Abby and Andrew, however there have plenty of theories over the years about who the killer (or killers) was, and among those suggested (besides Lizzie, of course) include Bridget, Lizzie's sister Emma, her uncle John Morse, and Andrew's illegitimate son William. Hees will be directing from a script by newcomer Bryce Kass, and although the project doesn't have a production start date yet, the film will be looking for deals at the American Film Market when it starts next week.
