Chris Pratt Guardians fo the Galaxy 2

The team's adventures continue as they unravel the mystery of Peter Quill's true parentage in GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2. The original film came out of left field and won over audiences with its quirky sense of humor and wonderful characters. It's no secret that sequels have a hard time besting their original, but Star-Lord himself, Chris Pratt, seems to feel that's exactly what's going to happen with Vol. 2. He didn't reveal much, but had the following to say when speaking with Entertainment Weekly.

Chris Pratt on GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2:

It’s bigger and better than the first movie in every way. And that’s saying a lot because I think the first movie is really good. James Gunn is the auteur. “He’s the man behind Guardians of the Galaxy. He wrote the movie, he directed the movie…The first one and the second one. So this is completely his vision. In my opinion, there is no equal in Hollywood. I think he is the best I’ve worked for, and with. And I owe so much to him. Really. And, it’s him.

Regarding story details:

I almost don’t want to say anything. I know that there’s enough interest for people to go out and see this movie. All you need to know is I cried when I read the script. It’s really, really fun, but there’s also some genuine, deep emotion that you get to see in this movie. And James Gunn, thank God for James Gunn.

So what do you think? Usual BS posturing or is Pratt being sincere about what he thinks of the film? Granted, it's hard to tell how the final outcome will be, even when you're acting in it, but I assume the man has seen A LOT more of the sequel than most. Despite the odds, I hope he's right! GUARDIANS rises above the genre its labeled as, and I hope the same for its sequel!

GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2 opens in theaters on May 5, 2017.
