Chris Tucker joining David O. Russell’s The Silver Lining Playbook

It doesn’t just seem like Chris Tucker hasn’t been in a movie since RUSH HOUR 3 in 2007, he literally hasn’t. That was his last feature project, and apparently it took so much out of him, he needed four whole years to recover.

But now he’s decided to un-Chappelle himself and start acting again. He has a role in the upcoming Ben Stiller/Vince Vaughn comedy NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH, and now he’s added a more prestigious film to his upcoming roster.

That would be David O. Russell’s SILVER LININGS PLAYBOOK, which stars Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Lawrence and Robert De Niro, and is an adaptation of Matthew Quick’s novel about a man institutionalized for depression and released into the care of his mother. Tucker is going to be Cooper’s “spirited friend” who lives in the mental hospital. Seems about right.

I think Tucker is good at the character he plays, which may or may not just be him in real life, and I think it’s good he’s picking up the acting torch once more. Do you?
