Do you love LAW? How about ORDER? Well then cue up that catchy LAW & ORDER: SVU theme song, because I've got some news for you!

After signing a lucrative new deal with NBC, Law & Order creator Dick Wolf has unveiled his first new series for the network and it brings back a very familiar face. Christopher Meloni, who played Detective Elliott Stabler for the first 12 seasons of the show (now in it's 21st year on the air), is returning to reprise his fan favorite investigator.

The as yet untitled Law & Order spin-off will of course focus on the NYPD organized crime unit led by Stabler (Meloni). Meloni has long been a steady face on the small screen going back to his work on the acclaimed HBO series OZ as well as supporting roles in MAN OF STEEL, 12 MONKEYS, and FEAR AND LOATHING IN LAS VEGAS. Aside from Law & Order, Meloni is known for his comedic work in the WET HOT AMERICAN SUMMER film and series as well as flicks including the Amy Schumer comedy SNATCHED and HAROLD AND KUMAR GO TO WHITE CASTLE.

What say you, LAW & ORDER fans? Are you down to follow Meloni onto this new show, and which characters from the original series do you think will reprise their iconic roles as guest stars for the upcoming series? Let us know in the comments section below.
