Christopher Nolan wants John David Washington as Green Lantern

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

Christopher Nolan is throwing in his two cents on who should be the next actor to take on the role of Green Lantern and he's choosing his TENET actor, John David Washington.

Nolan and Washington have been appearing in virtual interviews to promote TENET, which opens wide this weekend in the U.S. where theaters are allowed to be open, and while Nolan tells "Geeks of Color" his days directing DC films are likely over, he is still interested in seeing Washington becoming Green Lantern on the big screen. When Washington was asked if he would be interested in playing Green Lantern, the actor diverted the question to Nolan, who expressed that Washington would be an excellent choice for the Green Lantern role. The interview with Nolan and Washington can be seen below:

HBO Max is currently creating a Green Lantern TV show and if Washington was interested, he'd be back in the HBO family after his run on the show Ballers with Dwayne Johnson. The DCEU is also supposedly working on a GREEN LANTERN CORPS movie as well so Washington has options if the opportunity came his way. The goal for both projects is to revitalize the Green Lantern brand after it was pretty much tarnished by the 2011 GREEN LANTERN film starring Ryan Reynolds. I think John David Washington would be an excellent choice for the John Stewart version of the character and with his star continuing to rise, a superhero franchise could be in the cards for the actor.

Do YOU think John David Washington would be a good choice to play Green Lantern?
