Chucky: Devon Sawa leads full cast reveal for Child’s Play TV series

The Chucky TV show from Child's Play creator Don Mancini and Channel Zero creator Nick Antosca has found its leading man in Devon Sawa (Final Destination, Idle Hands).  According to Collider, cameras are set to roll on the series, with sources saying that Zackary Arthur (Hereditary), Teo Briones (Wind River), Bjorgvin Arnarson (PEN15), and Alyvia Alyn Lind (The Young and the Restless) will also star.

In what's been said so far, Brad Dourif is expected to reprise his role as the voice of Chucky, with Jennifer Tilly also believed to be joining the series. She played Tiffany Valentine, Chucky's equally as f*cked up partner, in Bride of Chucky, Seed of Chucky, Curse of Chucky, and Cult of Chucky.

The series begins when a vintage Chucky doll turns up at a suburban yard sale and an idyllic American town is thrown into chaos as a series of horrifying murders begin to expose the town’s hypocrisies and secrets. Meanwhile, the arrival of enemies — and allies — from Chucky’s past threatens to expose the truth behind the killings, as well as the demon doll’s untold origins as a seemingly ordinary child who somehow became this notorious monster. Ho boy! Who's ready for a Charles Lee Ray origin story?

I make no bones about being very excited for this show. To begin, Don Mancini will write Chucky in addition to directing the first episode. He'll also serve as showrunner for the series, so you know it's going to be legit all the way through. He's also executive producing with Antosca, alongside Child's Play franchise producer David Kirschner and Harley Peyton (Twin Peaks). Originally, the show was expected to make a 2021 debut, but it's been delayed to 2022 due to the pandemic.

As for Sawa, he recently wrapped his part in Casey Tebo's horror-comedy Black Friday! In the film, a group of toy store employees must protect each other from a horde of parasite-infected shoppers. He's also set to play Karl for Ben Epstein's Who Are You People. Here's the logline: After a botched attempt to seduce her English teacher, 16-year-old Alex runs away from boarding school to seek out the biological father her mother always kept hidden and learn the dark secret of her roots.

Devon Sawa versus Chucky, eh? I'm down for that. I can never seem to get enough of that red-haired menace, and Mancini being at the helm excites me. Will you be checking out Chucky when it toddles onto USA/Syfy next year?
