Ciaran Foy directing, Mike Flanagan producing American Reaper adaptation

While we wait to see what's going to happen with that Judge Dredd television series Mega-City One, Amblin Partners and Intrepid Pictures are teaming up to develop and produce AMERICAN REAPER, an adaptation of the American Reaper and Reaper Files stories that have been serialized in the pages of Judge Dredd Megazine.

Intrepid's Mike Flanagan and Trevor Macy will be producing the film, with Melinda Nishioka executive producing for Intrepid. Celine Rattray, Trudie Styler, and Alex Francis will also serve as executive producers, with Jeb Brody and John Buderwitz overseeing the project for Amblin. Amblin is providing the financing.

SINISTER 2 and ELI director Ciaran Foy, who recently worked with Flanagan on the Netflix series The Haunting of Bly Manor, is taking the helm of AMERICAN REAPER and will be writing the screenplay with Kyle Ward.

Written by Pat Mills and illustrated by Clint Langley, the American Reaper and Reaper Files stories are sci-fi action noir tales set in

a near-future where the aging elite, called Snatchers, prey upon the young, paying to hijack their bodies in order to prolong their own lives. This extreme form of identity crime has become so rampant on the black market that law enforcement has been forced to create a new division, which the public has nicknamed Reapers.

I'm not familiar with the source material, but that's a great concept for Foy and Flanagan to bring to the screen.
