Back in February, I told you all about a flick called RETREAT, which was to star Jason Isaacs, Thandie Newton and David Tennant. It’s been quite on that front ever since, but now there’s a major update regarding the thriller, which is still moving forward albeit with a casting change.
Deadline.com reports that Cillian Murphy (currently rocking the house in INCEPTION) has taken over the role Isaacs was to play. No reason is given for the switch. It appears as though Newton is still game, although Tennant’s status is unclear.
The story follows a couple (played by Newton and Murphy) who are seeking to rebuild their relationship by taking time out on a remote island but their peace is shattered when they find a man in military uniform (Tennant) half-dead on their doorstep who tells them there is a lethal virus killing millions on the mainland.
The film is being directed by first timer Carl Tibbets, who also penned the screenplay. Filming begins this September in Wales, although in February it was Canada, so obviously much has changed in the last few months…
