Looks like October 22nd is this year’s official day of cinematic fright!
eRc Box Office is reporting that Clint Eastwood’s fatalistic thriller HEREAFTER is slated for release on October 22nd, the same day PARANORMAL ACTIVITY 2 and SAW 3D hit theaters. Question then becomes, will big name stars be more of a draw than elaborate kills and gimmicky jump-scares?
Starring Matt Damon, Bryce Dallas Howard, Richard Kind, Jay Mohr, Cecile De France (below), Lyndsey Marshall, and Mylene Jampanoi – HEREAFTER is a supernatural thriller centered on three people — a blue-collar American (Damon), a French journalist (De France) and a London school boy — who are touched by death in different ways.
Shot on location between the U.S., U.K. and France, HEREAFTER also stars Steve Schirripa, Marthe Keller, Niamh Cusack, Nikki Harrup, Fileena Bahris, Annette Georgiou, John Nielsen, Kelli Shane and Charlie Holliday. The script comes courtesy of Peter Morgan (FROST/NIXON, THE QUEEN).
I guess now’s as good a time as any to weigh in. You cats think HEREAFTER has a shot of competing with SAW 3D and P.A. 2? My money’s kind of on the “final” SAW flick, not only has its kind been proven 6 times prior, the addition of 3D will inherently hike ticket prices. In my eyes, P.A. 2 may suffer from a die-down effect of the original. I can’t really seeing it cracking another 100 million domestically, can you?
