Clive Barker reveals Nightbreed series on the way from Michael Dougherty!

During an exclusive interview with ComingSoon.net about his upcoming Hulu series BOOK OF BLOOD, creator Clive Barker revealed that he's writing the "series bible" for a new NIGHTBREED remake series that's currently on the way, with filmmaker Michael Dougherty (TRICK 'R TREAT, GODZILLA: KING OF THE MONSTERS) attached to direct! Barker originally wrote and directed the 1990 cult classic.

Here's what Barker had to say about the upcoming project:

It’s exciting, after 30 years, to go back to these characters and find out who’s still speaking to me, who wants their story told….My tongue isn’t in my cheek when I say that as when I start a piece, it’s listening. The writing is a piece of listening, I’ve always said I was a journalist and what I was reporting on was the space between my ears.

He also mentioned that it's being co-written by himself and Josh Stolberg (JIGSAW), and that it will "make the property relevant to today’s audience, focusing on the race relations that are interwoven within NIGHTBREED. The difference is that the tension is between Humans and Monsters.

Here's the official synopsis for the original film:

A group of underground half-human/half-monsters seek to find a new refuge and home after their original hiding place is destroyed. Leading these efforts is a recently turned reluctant hero who not only is adjusting to his new supernatural status but also is dealing with the grief and mystery surrounding the death of his fiancée. Will this group band together despite being hunted and persecuted by humans who find their “otherness” to be frightening?

Meanwhile, Clive Barker's next project – BOOK OF BLOOD – will premiere on Hulu October 7th!

So what do you guys think? Fans of the original NIGHTBREED? If so, how do you feel about a remake? Either way, sound off below!
