For years, Awesome Art We’ve Found Around The Net has been about two things only – awesome art and the artists that create it. With that in mind, we thought why not take the first week of the month to showcase these awesome artists even more? Welcome to “Awesome Artist We’ve Found Around The Net.” In this column, we are focusing on one artist and the awesome art that they create, whether they be amateur, up and coming, or well established. The goal is to uncover these artists so even more people become familiar with them. We ask these artists a few questions to see their origins, influences, and more. If you are an awesome artist or know someone that should be featured, feel free to contact me at any time at theodorebond@joblo.com. This month we are very pleased to bring you the awesome art of…
Cory Holliday

Cory Halliday is an arrested development gore hound raised on cereal mascots, comics and Saturday morning cartoons! As Vile Consumption he focuses on humorous and nostalgic tounge-in-cheek mashups.
JOBLO: What got you started as an artist?
CORY: I always have been fascinated with comic style art, horror films and science fiction. Starting at an early age I had an advantage of living directly across the street from a video rental store. The owner would let me borrow movies, no charge. So I would walk home from school, stop by and pick something up and return it as soon as I was done. My Stepfather worked nights and my mother had waitress positions so that left me with little super vision as to what I was watching!
Who were some of your favorite artists growing up?
Absolutely love Todd Mcfarlane, The Kubert Brothers, Jim Lee among the others who defined The comic boom of the 90s
Traditional painters also like Julie Bell, Joe Jusko, Boris Vallejo, Dave Dorman. Enzo Sciotti and his work on Italian Horror Movie posters were always soo amazing
Who do you really dig these days, follow on Instagram?
Alex Pardee is one of my favorites. Shawn Coss is a good friend of mine we went to high school together. He saw me at my very first show and gave me some pointers to help out. I’ll never forget that he’s a fantastic artist
What advice would you have for budding artists today?
Find a subject that you love and express it, don’t be a “poser” McFarlane had the best advice I’ve ever heard. Everything has already been done, everything is derivative. Find what you love and do it 3% better than everyone.
What should we be looking out for from you in the future?
I’m continuing my comic mashups and bookmarks but what I’m really excited for is my new project titled “Super EGO Death: Faces of Halloween” A collection of what characters would wear on Halloween.
Being a fansite, we have to ask you… What are some of your favorite movies/TV shows of all time?
Horror Movies: The Thing, The Fly, The Blob and yes all the 80’s remakes!
TV Shows: Star Trek Deep Space 9, Batman the Animated Series, Stranger Things, Futurama
Comic Books: Everything by Geoff Johns, Giger, Rook, Batman, Hulk
