Netflix's biggest competition happens to be itself. The streamer houses two of the most popular shows on streaming so it should come as no surprise that they both topped the Nielsen streaming rankings.

Despite Bridgerton becoming the most-watched Netflix original series ever in its first 30 days, Cobra Kai managed to top the popular period drama during the first full week of 2021. The Karate Kid sequel series topped the chart for January 4-10 with viewers watching about 2.11 billion minutes worth of the show's three seasons. Bridgerton ranked second with 1.67 billion minutes being watched, down about a billion minutes from the previous week when the show actually topped Cobra Kai in the rankings. For comparison's sake, Cobra Kai lost about 500 million minutes in time from the previous chart.

Cobra Kai takes place over 30 years after the events of the 1984 All Valley Karate Tournament with the continuation of the inescapable conflict between Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) and Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka). The third season finds everyone reeling in the aftermath of the violent high school brawl between their dojos, which has left Miguel in a precarious condition. While Daniel searches for answers in his past and Johnny seeks redemption, Kreese further manipulates his vulnerable students with his own vision of dominance. The soul of the Valley is at stake, and the fate of every student and sensei hangs in the balance. The series also stars Courtney Henggeler, Xolo Maridueña, Tanner Buchanan, Mary Mouser, Jacob Bertrand, Gianni Decenzo, Vanessa Rubio, Peyton List, and Martin Kove.

Season one of Bridgerton is based on the first book of Julia Quinn's "Bridgerton" series, "The Duke and I." The drama of season one has captivated those at home who began binging the show like crazy when the show debuted in December. Bridgerton fans have been completely hooked on the romance between the eldest Bridgerton daughter, Daphne (Phoebe Dynevor), and the Duke of Hastings Simon Bassett (Regé-Jean Page).
