Coens next date

With Joel and Ethan Coens’ last movie getting a small amount of recognition, it’s no surprise that their next will be presented to a large audience upon initial release.

The Coen’s black comedy BURN AFTER READING will hit theaters on September 12, 2008 in wide release. While this is different from the “platform” release of NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN (and at a less-than-prestigious time of year), the perception is that the film holds “broad comedic appeal.”

The movie stars John Malkovich as an ousted CIA agent whose memoirs fall into the hands of gym employees who attempt blackmail with the info. George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Tilda Swinton, Richard Jenkins and Frances McDormand are among the cast.

Damn shame the Coens couldn’t find some decent actors this time, but they’ll probably make do.
