Comic Con: Metallica Through the Never interviews with director Nimrod Antal and Metallica’s Robert Trujillo!

Last Updated on February 10, 2026

One thing that I would have never expected to see at Comic Con this year was Metallica! Happily, there are always surprises and one this year was certainly the band promoting their new massive 3D concert feature – as well as an incredible secret show they played at the Spreckles Theatre in San Diego on Friday night. Yet the band and director Nimród Antal have made something far different than your average concert flick, one that is in 3D no less. Together, they’ve created a feature that also stars the very talented Dane DeHaan as a roadie named “Trip” on a mission so he can finally see Metallica play live.

I was lucky enough to spend some time with DeHaan, Antal and band members Robert Trujillo, Lars Ulrich and Kirk Hammett which you can read more about later. But for now, check out our press line interviews with Trujillo and Antal about the music and the madness of METALLICA THROUGH THE NEVER opening on September 27th 2013.
