I’ll admit I am a bit of a newbie in regards to Britain’s Hammer Horror Films. I am familiar with a handful of titles but there are a slew out there just waiting for me to discover them. Whether you are in my shoes or a huge fan this new book THE HAMMER VAULT coming next month looks to be a must buy.
It was put together and written by Hammer Film historian Marcus Hearn and it will feature a lot of awesome stuff. I absolutely love collections like this, and from the sounds of this one, it looks like one of the most comprehensive guides and collector pieces I have ever seen for Hammer.
This remarkable journey through the Hammer Vault includes props, annotated script pages, unused poster artwork, production designs, rare promotional material and private correspondence. Hundreds of rare and previously unseen stills help to create a rich souvenir of Hammer’s legacy, from the X certificate classics of the 1950s to the studio’s latest productions.
Highlights include:
- – Letters to and from some of the company’s stars
- – Pages from Peter Cushing’s scrapbooks
- – Pages from the scrapbook of managing director Michael Carreras
- – Pre-production artwork, and poster artwork from films that were never made

I mean honestly how awesome does that sound? I love the sound of seeing pages from Peter Cushing’s scrapbooks and unused artwork! I mean the artwork used for Hammer Films was pretty awesome and I can imagine the unused stuff would be a goldmine of visual feasts. The title will be available December 20th!
