Yesterday’s trash is today’s gold!

Roughly 24 hours ago we taunted you all with thoughts of Harry Ford joining the cast of Jon Favreau’s COWBOYS AND ALIENS. Today, it’s become official…Indy will indeed strap on the six-shooter and go head to head with extra terrestrial ghouls.

The confirmation comes via Favreau’s Twitter feed, which states:

“Please stop asking if Harrison Ford is in Cowboys and Aliens. Okay? He is. Please don’t tell anybody.”

You see, this is exactly why I’m not down with Twitter. Shite gets too easily lost in translation. I can’t tell if Favreau is actually angry that people were badgering him about Ford being in the film or if he just said that as justification for breaking the casting news on Twitter of all places. And the “please don’t tell anybody” bit…that has to be a joke, right?

Anyway, back to the topic at hand. No word which role Ford will assume in the film, but after a pair of dubious film projects (CROSSING OVER, EXTRAORDINARY MEASURES), it wouldn’t hurt to get the man back to his ass-kicking ways. Sure the dude’s 68 this year, but you can never short-shrift the awesome power of movie magic.

Ford joins Daniel Craig, Olivia Wilde (below), and Feavreau himself.

Synopsis: In Silver City, Arizona, Apache Indians and Western settlers must lay their differences aside when an alien spaceship crash lands in their city.

COWBOYS AND ALIENS start battle July 29th, 2011.
