Bioshock

It’s no secret that Universal’s attempt at a live-action adaptation of the popular video game series BIOSHOCK fell through the roof a while ago. Back in 2008, THE LONE RANGER director Gore Verbinski was set to helm the film from a screenplay by “Penny Dreadful” creator John Logan. Not only did Verbinski’s version of the film call for an R-rating, but he wanted a budget of $200 million to bring it to life. Damn, girl.

Universal wanted nothing to do with an R-rated $200 million film—especially after Zack Snyder’s WATCHMEN struggled to find an audience at the box office under similar circumstances—so they asked him to cut the budget down to $80 million. Verbinski ultimately dropped out of the project, which eventually led to it being shut down for good by BIOSHOCK creator Ken Levine.

With that said, here’s some really cool concept art for the film that almost was by conceptual illustrator Kasra Farahani (THOR), who worked on the project designing various sets. Dig it below!
