Cool Horror Gear: Fright Rags creates new Garbage Pail Kids character

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

If you were an '80s kid like I was, you probably recognize names like Adam Bomb, Up Chuck, Nasty Nick and GuilloTina. They were just some of the many humorously grotesque characters from Topps' immensely popular Garbage Pail Kids trading card series. At one time I was the envy of the neighborhood kids as I had quite the collection of these cards and remember them fondly. I ended up trading the entire set for a couple of Playboy magazines. At the time I thought I'd hit the jackpot. In retrospect, I wish I would've held on to my Garbage Pail Kids collection. Oh, well…

Now Fright-Rags is proud to team with GPK artist Brent Engstrom to create a brand new Garbage Pail Kid. In addition to capturing the unique style of the classic cards, Engstrom's design pays homage to such horror films as HALLOWEEN, FRIDAY THE 13th, A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET, HELLRAISER, EVIL DEAD II, and PHANTASM. These are pretty badass and I'm gonna scoop one up before they're gone.

Like all Garbage Pail Kids, Fright-Rags' horror-inspired character is known by two names. Fright Rag Freddy is available on black shirts (limited to 500) or baseball tees (limited to 200), while Cinemaniac Mike comes on orange shirts (limited to 300).

These limited-edition shirts are on sale now via Fright-Rags. Pre-orders will last until Friday, May 30 at 10am EST or while supplies last. Early-July shipment is expected.
