Cool Horror Video: A treat brings thoughts of death in animated short Melted

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

A recent graduate of the Ringling College of Art and Design, Nikki Chapman has crafted a very cool animated short called MELTED, and you can see it in the embed above. With a running time of just 104 seconds, MELTED tells the story of

a macabre girl who laments about the inevitability of death after getting a melting cartoon popsicle.
Warning for flashing colors and images towards the end of the video!

In a statement given to the Feedback Animation Film & Screenplay Festival, Chapman said,

I described “Melted” as the film I wanted to make since I was a kid. It shows that even an adorable, innocent little girl can have secret anxieties she’s dealing with inside. Growing up, I struggled a lot with anxiety and fear of death. “Melted” helped me confront those difficult feelings. It is a love letter to everything I’m a fan of – horror movies, stop motion, trippy animation, the color pink, ice cream, poetry, and more. I’m interested in combining the things I love to create something new."

MELTED boasts some great animation and awesome visuals, so check it out – it won't even take up 2 minutes of your time!
