Cool Horror Videos: Josh Tanner’s creepy sci-fi horror short Decommissioned

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

Director Josh Tanner's newly released sci-fi horror short Decommissioned was created as part of the Unreal Engine Short Film Initiative, funded by Epic Games and Screen Queensland, in which the filmmaking team was able to use ground-breaking game engine software for virtual production, with the support of Cutting Edge Post. As you can see in the video embedded above, the result of this endeavor was a short with some truly impressive visual effects… And it also has the bonus of being rather creepy.

Scripted by Tanner and Jade van der Lei, the short was inspired by the

bizarre but true events of the SuitSat Experiment in 2006, where a decommissioned Space Suit was turned into an eerie satellite reminiscent of a lifeless and stranded astronaut.

The story told here centers on Joey Vieira as Commander Diaz, an astronaut who

encounters a terrifying anomaly approaching the International Space Station.

Jade van der Lei produced Decommissioned with Danielle Redford.

Check out the short when you have 6 minutes to spare, and you're interested in learning more about Decommissioned you can also watch the "making of" video below.
