One sub-genre of movies that has always had an audience is the teen party movie. Each decade seems to have a definitive entry ranging from WEIRD SCIENCE to CAN’T HARDLY WAIT to SUPERBAD to PROJECT X. But, through all of those movies and beyond, there does not seem to be much variation in their contents. All high school party movies seem to exist in a world where any teenager can throw a party that is so epic in scale and wonton bacchanalian insanity, that it makes you wonder what the hell was wrong with your school.
The dudes over at Woodhead Entertainment have put together a fun spoof of high school party flicks in the form of a fake trailer for a movie called AVERAGE PARTY. It starts out in the same vein as SUPERBAD and quickly returns back to reality. I am sad to say I attended several parties that ended like the one in this video and have yet to attend a bash on par with PROJECT X.
