With THE HOBBIT: THE DESOLATION OF SMAUG opening in a couple of days, it is perfect timing for the greatest honor any film can have: a spoof on Sesame Street. As part of their ongoing segment with Cookie Monster in the starring role, the famed Muppets take on THE LORD OF THE RINGS featuring puppet versions of Gandalf and Arwen as they guide Cookie Monster through the different levels of delayed gratification.

Kids will love the video, but adults and fans of the films will get an even bigger kick out of it. Much like Cookie Monster’s recent run-in with Tom Hiddleston, this video is hilarious, educational, and geektastic. Plus, there is even a nice clip featuring Ian McKellen himself meeting the Gandalf puppet on Sesame Street. It is a classic lesson in using your manners with a great reference to the films. Check them both out below.
