Least to say, the man’s a little pissed off about the whole thing–especially since Platinum Dunes didn’t even give him a call about the project. But why should I spoil his fun? Check it out: Yes it does hurt, it does because its such an important film for me that, unfortunately, when I signed the original contract I gave up all rights to it and so there’s nothing I can do about it…
Shame on Platinum Dunes. I get their reasoning behind not contacting Craven, since I doubt they contact any of the original film’s directors, but I still don’t think that’s a very smart move on their behalf. Craven helped the LAST HOUSE ON THE LEFT remake, and look at the end result… a great f*cking movie, and better than anything the Dunes have done to date.
Time will tell, but somehow, I don’t see the remake living up to anyone’s expectations. To check out the full chat with Craven, click HERE, and get ready for a step back onto ELM ST next March.
