Just the other day acclaimed horror director Wes Craven was chatting it up about the revisit to the SCREAM franchise (check that shit HERE), and today the man sat down with the folks at IGN to chat about the revisit to A NIGHTMARE ON ELM ST..
Least to say, the man’s a little pissed off about the whole thing–especially since Platinum Dunes didn’t even give him a call about the project. But why should I spoil his fun? Check it out: Yes it does hurt, it does because its such an important film for me that, unfortunately, when I signed the original contract I gave up all rights to it and so there’s nothing I can do about it…
Shame on Platinum Dunes. I get their reasoning behind not contacting Craven, since I doubt they contact any of the original film’s directors, but I still don’t think that’s a very smart move on their behalf. Craven helped the LAST HOUSE ON THE LEFT remake, and look at the end result… a great f*cking movie, and better than anything the Dunes have done to date.
