Creepy Carnival coming

France and Spain have given us lots of cool horror flicks in recent years, like [REC], THE ORPHANAGE, INSIDE, and MARTYRS. Now it they’re going to be combining forces in order to drop-kick us with the “boogeyman chiller” THE CARNIVAL OF ILLUSIONS.

Variety compares the project to THE ORPHANAGE, which sounds pretty accurate based on the film’s plot line: CARNIVAL is about a teacher who takes his 11-year-old daughter Liz to a summer boarding school in a quiet Alsace village. Liz begins to hear what seems to be the voice of another student, who’s lying in semi-coma. Meanwhile, her father investigates the death of the teacher he’s replaced.

The flick will be directed by France’s Talal Selhami and produced by Barcelona’s Martin Samper. Production will begin as soon as Selhami is done with his debut feature, MIRAGES. Keep it here for more deets as they come in.

This pic popped up after I Googled “Carnival”. Works for me!
