Cruise to Wichita

JoBloJoBlo

Tom Cruise Tom Cruise may finally be ready to get back to work. After ages of pouring over scripts, it seems he’s very close to making the James Mangold directed action comedy WICHITA his next film. Both Cruise and Cameron Diaz are in advanced negotiations to star in the film and both have already approved the script. The most recent incarnation of the script was written by THE LOOKOUT scribe Scott Frank with Mangold currently making final tweaks with SHUTTER ISLAND scribe Laeta Kalogridis. In it, Cruise will play a spy who keeps invading the life of a single woman (Diaz). The final decision was apparently between WICHITA and the Len Wiseman directed thriller MOTORCADE but WICHITA seems to have won Cruise over. He was also circling the Bharat Nalluri directed remake THE TOURIST, the David Cronenberg directed drama/thriller THE MATARESE CIRCLE, the romantic comedy LOST FOR WORDS and the Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck directed thriller THE 28TH AMENDMENT. It’s likely he’ll commit to one or two of the other projects down the line.
