It seems as though every major actor in Hollywood has tried to latch on to the comic book craze that has swept through tinseltown like wildfire. One major playa however, has avoided the mighty trend…untill now.
In what could be another bold attempt to revive his once staggering career, Tom Cruise is reportedly in talks with one Sam Raimi to bring the DC Comics/Wildstorm comic “Sleeper” to the big screen, with Cruise set to star. Written by Ed Brubaker, the series centers on an operative whose fusion with an alien artifact makes him impervious to pain and allows him to pass it on to others through skin contact. He is placed undercover in a villainous organization by an intelligence agency and falls for a member of the group. Appraently Warner Bros. is interested in establishing this as a legitimate franchise , which when you think about it makes perfect sense. Sam Raimi obviously knows comic book adaptations, and with all the crap he’s taken in the press over the last few years coupled with his unflinching resolve, Mr. Cruise is clearly impervious to pain. Perfect fit if you ask me.
