Curb Your Enthusiasm is officially coming to an end with Season 12

Curb Your Enthusiasm Season 12 will be the last hurrah for Larry David’s long-running cringe comedy series.

Curb Your Enthusiasm, Season 12, HBO, end

Twelve seasons is a pretty, pretty, pretty good run for any television series, and it’s officially time for Curb Your Enthusiasm to take a bow. That’s right, folks. Curb Your Enthusiasm Season 12 will be the show’s last hurrah.

Confirmation for the end of Curb Your Enthusiasm comes from Larry David, who says he wants to return to his natural, lovable personality and engage in humanitarian work to celebrate the show’s end. That last part is a joke, of course. Right, Larry?

“As Curb comes to an end, I will now have the opportunity to finally shed this ‘Larry David’ persona and become the person God intended me to be – the thoughtful, kind, caring, considerate human being I was until I got derailed by portraying this malignant character,” said David. “And so ‘Larry David,’ I bid you farewell. Your misanthropy will not be missed. And for those of you who would like to get in touch with me, you can reach me at Doctors Without Borders.”

The final season of Curb Your Enthusiasm premieres on Sunday, February 4, with the 10-part series ending on April 7.

Casey Bloys, Chairman and CEO of HBO & Max Content, previously said there’s an “open invitation” to continue the series on HBO, though it appears as if David is ready to move on.

Curb Your Enthusiasm has been a massive hit for David, following his time working on the show about nothing, Seinfeld. The cringe comedy show earned 51 Emmy nominations throughout its run, winning two for Outstanding Directing in a Comedy Series for Robert B. Weide and Outstanding Single-Camera Picture Editing for a Comedy Series for Steven Rasch. Curb’s award nominations and wins extend beyond the Academy, with nods and prizes at the Golden Globes, SAG, DGA, and WGA.

Curb Your Enthusiasm stars Larry David as an extreme version of himself, making life miserable for those around him through social faux pas and irredeemable actions. For years, the show featured Cheryl Hines, Jeff Garlin, Susie Essman, Vivica A. Fox, Richard Lewis, Ted Danson, Vince Vaughn, Bob Einstein, Tracey Ullman, and more. Guest stars include (but are not limited to) Ben Stiller, Mel Brooks, Martin Scorsese, Christian Slater, Michael J. Fox, Ricky Gervais, Lin-Manual Miranda, David Schwimmer, J.B. Smoove, and F. Murray Abraham, to name a few.

“It’s hard to say farewell to such a ground-breaking, brilliantly funny and iconic series like Curb Your Enthusiasm, which has left its mark across television and the comedy genre,” said Bloys. “Working alongside Larry David and Jeff Schaffer as well as all of the comedic masterminds that comprise our producers, cast and crew has been a joy that I will always treasure.”
