Fanning has signed on to co-star in RUNAWAYS, a movie based on the influential all-girl punk rock back from the 70s. While the 15-year-old Fanning might seem a little young to star in a movie about a punk rock band, she’s actually the same age as her character, lead singer Cheri Currie, when she joined the band. Fanning joins Kristen Stewart who had previously signed on to star as guitarist Joan Jett. Music video director and fashion photographer Floria Sigismondi would make her directorial debut on the project. This is just the next step in the “Dakota Fanning Is All Growns Up” tour that includes her upcoming role a villainous vampire in NEW MOON. Filming on RUNAWAYS is expected to begin later this spring.
