Daniel Craig has finally sealed the deal to star as Mikael Blomkvist in THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO.
That deal of course comes with a possible two sequels in the series, “The Girl Who Played With Fire” and “The Girl Who Kicked The Hornets Nest”. The best-selling novels were written by Stieg Larsson.
Apparently, Craig will be juggled between three studios in order to do the film. He will start production on TATTOO in Sweden as soon as he is done with COWBOYS & ALIENS in the fall. There also had to be schedule talks with James Bond rights holders for Craig’s next film with Sam Mendes. MGM is still clutching onto Bond despite the fact that it is uncertain when production on the film will start, if it does at all. (It has to!)
Craig’s added a lot to his plate with “The Girl Who” series, as well as COWBOYS & ALIENS as there is already talk of a possible franchise with that as well.
The search is still on for Lisbeth Salander. We reported on the 5 actresses in the lead for the role. Deadline does add one short, brunette actress to their list: Ellen Page.
