Dark Moon Rising deets!

In what could be the next post-TWILGHT vampire trend, werewolves seem to be on the comeback. We’ve got THE WOLF MAN, a reimagining of AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON, and now a cool Sid Haig flick called DARK MOON RISING on the horizon.

Assuming first time duties as producer/writer/director and actor, Dana Mennie’s new project (along with co-writing novice Ian Cook) is more or less about:

Real love and fate colliding in a small town girl’s life as Amy falls in love with a mysterious drifter who brings with him a family curse and the unimaginable horror that follows. Bender, who shares the curse with his son, brings hell to Amy’s small town. As Dan and Amy’s love is put to the test, Thibodeaux, an ex-cop from another city who has witnessed Bender’s lust for blood firsthand, Sam, the local sheriff and an ex homicide detective, and John, a local farmer and Amy’s father, head for the ultimate showdown with Bender and the evil web of terror that he has drawn them all into.

Sounds pretty interesting, even if only for a character named Thibodeaux. The flick stars Max Ryan, Maria Conchita Alonso, Ginny Weirick, Arielle Vandenberg, Chris Mulkey, the aforementioned Sid Haig, and what’s a horror film without genre vet Lin Shaye? She’s on board as well!

With no exact release date in sight, DARK MOON RISING will be screened on October 10th, at 10PM during the Freakshow Horror Film Festival in Orlando, Florida. So for all you in the Sunshine State, you got yourselves a friggin’ party!
