DAWN OF THE PLANET OF THE APES is looking to better position itself in the Summer by moving from July 18th to July 11th, the date currently held by FAST AND FURIOUS 7. But, despite the untimely death of star Paul Walker, Universal is not relinquishing that release date yet. Currently, FAST AND FURIOUS 7 is on indefinite hiatus as director James Wan and the studio try to figure out if the movie can be salvaged from what has already been filmed or if they will need to reshoot. With just 8 months until release date, it seems that they will eventually move the date to a later 2014 release, if at all.

Moving to July 11th also allows DAWN OF THE PLANET OF THE APES some wiggle room as both the Wachowski’s JUPITER ASCENDING and the Dwayne Johnson starring HERCULES: THE THRACIAN WARS are set for July 18th. If FAST AND FURIOUS 7 somehow manages to get completed in time for a release on July 11th, expect fans to turn out in incredible numbers whether Paul Walker‘s scenes make it or not.

DAWN OF THE PLANET OF THE APES, from director Matt Reeves, should do well at the box office thanks to the surprising quality of RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES. The new film keeps Andy Serkis in the motion-capture lead as Caesar but loses James Franco. Instead, Gary Oldman, Jason Clarke, Judy Greer, and Keri Russell will take over the human roles in what is surely one of the more anticipated films of next year.

Keep an eye out for more news on whether FAST AND FURIOUS 7 will be moved.
