DC’s Stargirl series set to shine with DC Universe, CW premiere dates

The clouds have parted and the stars are now shining bright, as it's been announced that DC's live-action series STARGIRL will arrive on DC Universe on May 11th. Then, as promised, the show will air on The CW on May 12th.

DC plans to release new episodes of STARGIRL weekly, courtesy of their subscription-based streaming service, DC Universe. In addition to arriving first on DC Universe, those who've opted into the superhero-focused service will also be granted access to additional exclusive content related to the show. Furthermore, every episode of STARGIRL will be available to stream on The CW's digital platforms following the initial broadcast. If that's not enough, once the season finale wraps, the full presentation will be made available on The CW's digital services, too.

Here's the official synopsis for DC Universe's STARGIRL:

Courtney Whitmore (aka Stargirl) is smart, athletic and above all else kind. This high school teenager's seemingly perfect life hits a major speed bump when her mother gets married and her new family moves from Los Angeles, California to Blue Valley, Nebraska. Struggling to adapt to a new school, make new friends and deal with a new step-family, Courtney discovers her step-father has a secret; he used to be the sidekick to a superhero. "Borrowing" the long-lost hero's cosmic staff, Courtney becomes the unlikely inspiration for an entirely new generation of superheroes.

In addition to Brec Bassinger, STARGIRL also stars also stars Luke WilsonAmy Smart, Trae Romano, Cameron Gellman, Yvette Monreal, Anjelika Washington, Meg DeLacy, Neil Jackson, Jake Austin Walker, Christopher James Baker and Hunter Sansone. The series is coming to DC Universe and The CW courtesy of executive producers Greg BerlantiGeoff Johns and Sarah Schechter.
