Deadpool 2 reportedly outscores the original in test screenings

The first DEADPOOL film had the fortune of hitting theaters with few expectations, but after its monstrous success took the world by storm, anticipation has been running at an all-time high for the upcoming sequel. There had been rumours that the sequel wasn't testing well and that the studio was forced to begin reshoots in an attempt to salvage the film, but those were soon proven false. Although there were reshoots for DEADPOOL 2, as there are on most blockbusters, they were merely adding more of what the test audiences enjoyed, which Collider has said was more of Cable (Josh Brolin) and Domino (Zazie Beetz).

Those reshoots seem to have done the trick as THR reports that DEADPOOL 2 has received a 98 score in a recent test screening. THR also notes that the highest test screening score which the original DEADPOOL received was a 91. Take that, Deadpool of 2016. The environment at the test screening was described as "electric and akin to watching the Super Bowl." So…lots of yelling and snacks? The reshoots lasted for six days in Vancouver, but the outlet also mentions that two hours or work was recently done in Los Angeles for a "secret cameo." Tantalizing! It's obviously hard to guage the quality of a film purely by the results of test screenings, so it's best not to break out the celebratory confetti just yet, but it is nice to know that at least one audience seemed to enjoy DEADPOOL 2 quite a bit.

The "official" synopsis for DEADPOOL 2:

After surviving a near fatal bovine attack, a disfigured cafeteria chef (Wade Wilson) struggles to fulfill his dream of becoming Mayberry’s hottest bartender while also learning to cope with his lost sense of taste. Searching to regain his spice for life, as well as a flux capacitor, Wade must battle ninjas, the yakuza, and a pack of sexually aggressive canines, as he journeys around the world to discover the importance of family, friendship, and flavor – finding a new taste for adventure and earning the coveted coffee mug title of World’s Best Lover.

DEADPOOL 2 will hit theaters on May 18, 2018.
