
We’ve been hearing chit-chat regarding DARK SHADOWS for over a year now; how it’s got Tim Burton sitting in the director chair, Johnny Depp in line to play suave vampire Barnabas Collins, and John August writing the screenplay. Only thing we don’t know is when? When the hell is this thing happening?
Well, as far as Johnny Depp is concerned, it’s happening soon. In an interview with Collider, Depp explains that, after Burton is done editing his sure-to-be-nightmarish take on ALICE IN WONDERLAND, they will “attack” DARK SHADOWS next year. In addition, he says the screenplay is “very, very close”, and he’s obviously very excited about the prospect of donning a cape and fake fangs and twirling around a Victorian mansion will humming to himself ominously. (That last part is wholly in my own weird imagination.) All that said, earlier this Spring the word was they were “attacking” the flick this Autumn, so who knows for sure…
